The compact truck market is a small and special segment. With few entrants and a unique look and feel to each, it is hard to make comparisons. Hyundai enters the game with the 2022 Santa Cruz. A unibody pickup truck, the Santa Cruz concept has been around since 2015, but it is finally becoming a reality. Arriving in Canada in summer 2022, Myers Kanata Hyundai has the ability to pre-order the Santa Cruz for adventure seekers and outdoor enthusiasts.
A New Look and Feel

In the rear, the Santa Cruz features an open bed area with a sliding, lockable tonneau cover to help secure items. The bed also offers hidden storage areas and a remote-activated opening tailgate to make it easy for drivers to load up and head off into the unknown.
Interior Design
The interior of the 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz is more similar to a mid-size pickup than the compact pickup it really is. Following the same design pattern as other Hyundai models, Santa Cruz’s interior features attractive materials and desirable modern features. It features a fully digital gauge cluster, a first in its class, and if our-door crew cab set up.
Performance
Just because it is a compact truck does not mean that Santa Cruz is lacking in power. There are two different powertrain choices. The standard setup is a 2.5-litre four-cylinder that delivers 190 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. A 2.5-litre turbocharged engine and eight-speed wet Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) delivers 281 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. With HTRAC all-wheel drive (AWD) allows the truck to tow a maximum of 2,267kg to give drivers the confidence to explore beyond the beaten path.
Infotainment
A contemporary infotainment system is at the heart of the 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz. An 8.0-inch touchscreen is standard while a 10.0-inch is available on upgraded models. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also come standard, as does wireless smartphone charging. Hyundai’s Blue Link services are provided free of charge for three years, allowing drivers to start, lock, unlock, and perform more vehicle functions via apps, the Internet, and even Amazon Alexa.
Safety
Hyundai has taken to upgrading the driver-asst features on all of its models, and the Santa Cruz is no different. While crash tests and safety ratings are still being conducted, Hyundai provides the most technology possible to ensure a safe drive for drivers, passengers, and pedestrians. Standard safety features include forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.
Warranty
Hyundai offers one of the best warranties in the business, which is useful for peace of mind even if drivers never have to use it. The limited warranty covers five years or 60,000km while the powertrain warranty covers 10 years or 100,000km.
The 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz gets glowing reviews as it moves from concept to reality in summer 2022.
