First look at the 2023 Hyundai Palisade

First look at the 2023 Hyundai Palisade

The Hyundai Palisade first arrived in Canada in 2019, and since its debut, it has become a firm favourite with the Canadian motoring public.

The facelifted model was unveiled at the New York International Auto Show.

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade, in Kanata, will arrive in the summer.

Performance

Performance

The 2023 Palisade will retain the existing 3.8L V-6 gas-powered motor that produces 291 hp and 262 lb/ft of torque. This motor is coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission and has all-wheel drive as a standard.

New technology for 2023 is Tow Mode, which aims to reduce hunting for gears while towing by holding the vehicle in lower gears for longer.

The exterior facelift includes a new front and rear with a larger front squared-off cooling grille, rear spoiler, and rear-wheel aero deflectors. According to Hyundai, these changes are intended to make the vehicle more aerodynamic and allow this large SUV to cut through the air more efficiently.

There are also dark-trim 20" multi-spoke alloy wheels and automatically dimming exterior mirrors.

The roof sports an electric sunroof and black roof rails.

New LED headlights and daytime running lights are introduced. These lights are vertically connected and frame the grille making a very appealing facia.

New air deflectors are mounted at the front, which, combined with the powerful hood, give the 2023 Palisade a strong road presence, further enhanced by large C-pillars and panoramic side windows.

The rear of the new Palisade has vertical LED tail lamps and lower skid plates, adding to the rugged appeal of the vehicle.

The same colour palette is available, with emerald green as an added colour.

The driver's seats have been redesigned to help reduce fatigue during long drives, while the second row gets a new headrest design and new ventilation, and the third row is now heated.

The driver gets a digital centre mirror connected to a rearview camera. This lets the driver see what is behind without his view being interrupted by passengers or luggage.

This Palisade also supports Hyundai's latest version of the Digital Key. This app allows users to link their vehicle with their Samsung Galaxy phone or Apple's iPhone and watch and leave their vehicle keys at home. They use the app to start, lock and unlock the vehicle. This app also allows the key data to be securely shared with family members.

The new Palisade offers Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and USB ports are liberally scattered throughout the vehicle.

The driver also gets a "conversation mirror" that allows them to see the passengers behind.

A Rear Occupant Alert warns the driver that someone or something has been left behind in the vehicle when the doors are locked, and the driver leaves.

Safety

The 2023 Palisade comes with a full range of driver and safety aids that include blind-sport, forward collision, high beam, lane changing, rear cross-traffic, and reverse parking assists, among others.
